Haledon win streak reaches 5

Livingston no match for streaking Haledon

Haledon o-30 team keeps on rolling! After beating Nutley, AC Montgomery and SFC 1933 this time it was Livingston United, who was no match against streaking Haledonians. Last October United fell short in Haledon 1:3 despite grabbing an early 1:0 lead. A rematch was once again a two goal difference affair and once again it was Haledon that came up on top.

It was a good all-around effort for Haledon, as they scored 4 goals in an away game for the first time this season. 3 of them were scored by the members of the Polish contingent: Jakub "Jake" Witek continues to find the back of the net, when he converted a penalty kick. It was his 4th goal of the Spring. Another polish player - Paweł "Paul" Bajon - chipped in with a brace on his own. This was his second multi-goal game in a row. Both Poles have now 6 goals apiece in this season for Haledon.

Last score came off the leg of the Livingston defender, who - despite creating some dangerous chances - were not able to close the gap thanks to a stellar performance by Haledon's defensive unit and good effort by the newcomer in the goal: Piotr "Cipek" Stępień.

Week 16:

Livingston United o-30 – Haledon o-30 2:4

Supersubs make it count

When you beat a team 8:5 and finish the game with 8 players (2 less than the opponent) you expect a second leg to be a breeze. But it was not the case when Haledon and Paramus 0-30 teams squared off against each other on a beautiful Springy Sunday morning.

Despite playing a man down for the entire game Paramus held Haledon to a surprising scoreless tie after the first half. But goals had to come and in the second 45mins they arrived in bunches. First one came of the penalty kick awarded for the foul on a substitute forward Omar Arango. It was converted by another bench player Tomek Moczerniuk, who returned to the team after back injury sidelined him for four games. It was a team leading 10th goal of the season for Moczerniuk.

Second goal was scored minutes later by the Man of the Match - Patrick Flores, who beat the defender and fired a left-footed rifle from behind the penalty box past the stretched out Paramus goalie. Flores, who also began the game on the sideline, was not finished and added a second strike this time from close range, but with the same result. His brace was divided by a nice, skillful chip by Sebastian Penk - yet another substitute. Having such long and powerful bench proved to be the difference in this game and Haledon - despite first half woes - won its fifth in a row.

The score could have been more lopsided, but the referee disallowed a goal by Chris Huebner, who headed in a rebound of his own penalty kick miss. Defense, led by Carlos Estrella, once again was up to the task and shut the visitors out for the second time in the last four games.

Next game for Haledon will be a feature between the best offense and worst defense in the league. So far Haledon raked up 48 goals in 14 games and SFC 1933 allowed 53 in 13. Last meeting between these two teams resulted in a 7:1 blowout. Any different result this week will be considered a huge upset.
